Terms of Service

1. Agreement

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the LifeCost mobile app and website (the "Service"). By creating an account or using LifeCost, you agree to these Terms.

2. The Service

LifeCost is a personal finance tool that helps you see purchases in terms of the life-time they cost, based on information you provide such as income and expenses. The Service is provided for personal, non-commercial use.

3. Accounts and authentication

You must provide accurate information when you create an account. We use Supabase to authenticate users and manage sessions. You are responsible for keeping your login details confidential and for activity that occurs under your account.

4. Your data

You retain ownership of the financial information you enter. You grant us a limited license to store and process that information solely to provide the Service. Financial data is stored securely, and access is restricted to your authenticated account, as described in our Privacy Policy.

5. Not financial advice

LifeCost provides informational calculations only. It is not financial, tax, investment, accounting, or legal advice, and it does not guarantee any financial outcome. You are solely responsible for decisions you make with your money.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for unlawful, harmful, or fraudulent purposes.
• Attempt to access another user's account or data.
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service, including by probing or overloading our systems.
• Copy, reverse engineer, or misuse the app except as allowed by law.

7. Advertising and tracking

We do not use third-party advertising networks and we do not engage in third-party ad tracking. The Service is supported by the product itself, not by selling your attention or your data to advertisers.

8. Account deletion

You may stop using LifeCost at any time and delete your account in-app. Deleting your account removes your account and associated financial data from our systems, except for limited records we may retain where required for security or legal compliance. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or if we need to protect the Service or other users.

9. Intellectual property

LifeCost, including its name, design, and software, is owned by us or our licensors. You may not use our branding or content except as needed to use the Service.

10. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." We do not warrant that LifeCost will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that calculations will meet your specific needs. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, LifeCost and its operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or USD $50 if you have not paid us.

12. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will change when we do. Continued use of LifeCost after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
